The role of a refinery
Refiners receive precious metals from primary sources (i.e., mines) and/or secondary sources (i.e., recycling companies or from the market) and process and refine the supply in order to fabricate refined products such as bars, grain or other (semi-) finished precious metal products.
Independent authorities such as the London Bullion Market Association set the standard for integrity and transparency for the global precious metals industry. The LBMA's Good Delivery List provides an overview of vetted refiners, who amongst others comply with the Responsible Gold Guidance.
