Introducing xTrace to Verify Origin of Mined Materials

AI-powered Origin Verification Technology (OVT) for Supply Chain Integrity

aXedras is proud to introduce xTrace, a next-generation solution that brings scientific verification and digitalized integrity to the global precious metals supply chain — from rock face to refinery.

xTrace is an AI-powered Origin Verification Technology (OVT) that predicts and verifies whether mined precious metals truly originate from their declared source. It delivers fast, reliable, and scalable results, allowing refiners, centralized processing plants (CPPs), and regulators to verify origin with scientific precision and strengthen responsible sourcing practices worldwide.

What is xTrace?

xTrace combines advanced chemical fingerprinting, artificial intelligence, and connected analytical devices (such as XRF or ICP) to determine whether mined material matches its claimed source.

Key highlights:

  • Reliable: Accuracy above 98%¹

  • Fast: Verification within one minute²

  • Scalable: Handles high test volumes across multiple sites

By transforming elemental chemical data into verifiable proof of origin, xTrace enables users to ensure the integrity of material flows: reducing fraud, supporting due diligence, and strengthening compliance across the precious metals value chain.

Our Vision and Objectives

aXedras vision for xTrace is to empower the global precious metals industry with integrity, science, and insights.

Short-Term Vision

Deliver a digital, data-driven verification system that complements existing due-diligence processes:

  • Refiners & Centralized Processing Plants: Verify declared origin, detect fraud, and improve upstream traceability.

  • ASGM Sector: Legitimize responsible artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) and link it to formal markets.

Mid-Term Vision

Evolve xTrace into a business-intelligence and insight platform that:

  • Leverages aggregated data to generate smart dashboards and compliance indicators.

  • Enables transparency and accountability at scale for industry and regulators alike.

  • Integrates with production, inventory, or blockchain systems such as the Bullion Integrity Ledger™.

How Does It Work?

xTrace transforms chemical composition into trusted intelligence through a five-step process:

  1. Material Sampling: Handheld or stationary XRF/ICP devices scan doré bars, milled materials, or rock samples.

  2. Data Capture: Roughly 20 elemental data are securely transmitted to the xTrace cloud platform.

  3. AI-Based Analysis: Neural networks compare fingerprints against verified supplier profiles.

  4. Predictive Verification: Confidence scores and color-coded results (green = match, red = anomaly).

  5. Traceability & Archiving: Results are stored in the cloud, linked to purchase orders, and escalation procedures and communication with compliance department can be logged correctly.

Finally, selected data and authentication results can optionally be integrated with the Bullion Integrity Ledger™ and, hence, seamlessly shared with business partners.

Early Adopters and Field Study

aXedras has recently set up an Early Adopters Group to advance xTrace, the group currently includes:

  • Three LBMA Good Delivery Refiners

  • Two Centralized Processing Plants

aXedras and the Centralized Processing Plants are conducting an ongoing field study in Peru to validate real-world performance and support responsible ASGM sourcing. The study results and key findings will be presented at the Bullion Integrity Forum 2026 in Zurich on April 16, 2026.

Looking Ahead

With xTrace, aXedras is laying the foundation for a scientific, data-driven, and globally scalable verification standard — one that transforms how the precious metals industry approaches traceability and compliance.
