A milestone for transparency and an outstanding example to deliver IT projects

Switzerland, Berne. On 29 January 2026, the Swiss Precious Metals Association officially launched the Swiss Precious Metals Transparency Platform (“SPMTP”), making aggregated data on the origin of gold processed in Switzerland publicly accessible for the first time. The platform is available at https://pm-transparency.swiss/ and publishes sourcing data for 2024, with annual updates planned going forward.
For aXedras, this launch marks the successful delivery of a highly ambitious, politically sensitive, and technically demanding project. It demonstrates how complex multi stakeholder initiatives can be translated into robust, usable digital platforms when governance, engineering, and project management are closely aligned.

SPMTP Launch with 2024 Data Publication
Why this Swiss Precious Metals Transparency Platform matters
Public and political scrutiny of global precious metals supply chains has increased significantly in recent years. Civil society, regulators, and the broader public are calling for clearer and more accessible information on where precious metals originate and how they are processed.
With SPMTP, Swiss Precious Metals Association (“ASMP”) has taken a proactive and concrete step to address these expectations. Instead of relying on fragmented disclosures or complex import statistics, the platform provides:
A simple map based interface to explore gold origins
Clear differentiation between industrial, artisanal, and recycled gold
Aggregated high quality data reported directly by ASMP members
Contextual explanations that make a complex industry easier to understand
The platform is designed not only as an information tool, but also as a foundation for ongoing dialogue, continuous improvement, and future regulatory alignment.
aXedras’ role from vision to working platform
aXedras was responsible for project management as well as the design and development of the SPMTP software and platform.
From the outset, the project combined several layers of complexity. Multiple stakeholders across compliance, IT, operations, communications, and public authorities. High expectations around data quality, neutrality, and credibility. A strict timeline from concept to public launch. And the need to balance public transparency with controlled access for authorities.
aXedras led the initiative end to end, translating strategic goals into a clear delivery roadmap, coordinating stakeholders, and building a platform that is both technically robust and intuitively usable.
This contribution was explicitly highlighted by Christoph Wild, President of the ASMP, at the time of launch:
“The Swiss Precious Metals Transparency Platform would not have been possible without the strong commitment and execution capability of aXedras. They played a central role from project governance through to platform development, and consistently managed to bridge regulatory requirements, member expectations, and technical complexity. aXedras turned a demanding and politically sensitive initiative into a concrete and credible digital solution.”
A layered platform architecture
The Swiss Precious Metals Transparency Platform is designed as a multi layer digital system.

3-layered SPMTP Concept
Layer 1 Data capture and quality
The first layer enables Swiss companies to easily share data with the ASMP by focusing on the automated and efficient handling of shipment data. It ensures high data quality through structured data capture, validation, and consistency checks. This layer forms the operational foundation of the platform and is designed to enable future data exchange with the Precious Metals Control Office to enable enhanced market surveillance.
Layer 2 Data control and governance
The second layer serves as dashboard for the ASMP ensuring that all required data is delivered and complete. It provides central control and configuration of the platform, including parameters such as the definition of high risk countries. This layer also serves as the current access point for the Precious Metals Control Office, supporting their market surveillance activities.
Layer 3 Public transparency
The public application, which is accessible via https://pm-transparency.swiss/, builds on these layers and presents aggregated data in a clear and accessible form. It enables transparency without exposing sensitive company or shipment level information, balancing transparency with competition protection.
Project execution under real world constraints
The SPMTP project moved from concept to launch in less than a year. Concept and design took place from March to June 2025. Development followed from September 2025 to January 2026. The public launch took place in January 2026.
During this time, aXedras coordinated dozens of workshops, steering committee meetings, and working sessions with ASMP members and stakeholders. Legal, technical, and operational perspectives were aligned into a single coherent solution.
As Iwan Lottenbach, Project Manager at aXedras, explains:
“What made this project exceptional was the breadth and quality of collaboration across the ASMP members. Companies that are competitors in the market worked together openly and constructively to build a shared foundation for transparency. This level of cooperation created a solid baseline for the platform and shows how collective action can strengthen trust and credibility across an entire industry.”
The result is a platform that functions reliably at both a technical and organisational level, which is essential for initiatives of this scale and visibility.
A foundation for the future
SPMTP is not a one off publication, but a long term transparency infrastructure. The platform is designed for the annual publication of sourcing data, with the release of 2025 figures planned for the first quarter of 2026. It will continue to evolve through functional enhancements, increased data automation, and support for proactive supervision and verification, while systematically incorporating feedback from authorities, ASMP members, and the public.
As one of the first initiatives of its kind worldwide, the platform positions Switzerland and the ASMP as a reference point for responsible and transparent precious metals processing.
Delivering complex digital trust systems
For aXedras, the Swiss Precious Metals Transparency Platform exemplifies our role as a digitalisation partner for the precious metals industry. We design and deliver high trust digital platforms that combine deep industry understanding with strong technology and project delivery capabilities.
Projects like SPMTP show that transparency is not achieved through technology alone, but through disciplined project management, deep domain understanding, and close collaboration between all parties involved.
We are proud to have partnered with ASMP on this landmark initiative and look forward to supporting the platform’s continued evolution.
